Summer House Park

May 7- 9.  Summer House Park is a privately owned campground that is located right on the shore of Miller Lake.  We chose this park as it was central to the Bruce Peninsula giving us a short 20-30 minute drive to areas we wanted to check out such as the National Parks.  The other reasons were it had a sewer hook up at the site and laundry facilities.  We purchased our Insignia portable clothes washer but as it was still cool we wanted easy access to a dryer.  The campground does not have a trail system like the Provincial Parks have but the grounds are large and the roadways through the park are provide a scenic walk.

There is a small general store on site offering a selection of knick knacks and collectables, groceries, RV and camping supplies (we bought a 10 foot sewer hose extension as ours was too short to reach the access port), and restaurant.  The office has a good selection of Bruce attraction pamphlets, firewood, and a propane refill station.  The beach area is small but does offer a variety of rental canoes and boats.  Miller Lake is a large lake; large enough to have water skiers, swimmers, and canoeists on the lake without getting in each other’s way.  Summer House Park has dozens of permanently parked trailers on site which speaks to the popularity and satisfaction of the campers.  There isn’t much site privacy.  There isn’t much space or tree screen between each trailer.  The grounds and facilities are well maintained the way.  With its conveniences and proximity to everything in north Bruce Peninsula it is a place we would return to.
